If you’re considering live game use, we should talk.

At HeyBLU we support the Blues. Therefore we suggest using HeyBLU as umpire armor—an in-ear assist where the plate umpire wears earbuds and makes the final ball or strike decision.

Since HeyBLU doesn’t track swings, there’s a toggle to turn off “Ball” call audio so the umpire can focus on ball vs strike when the batter doesn’t swing. The goal is a better strike zone: the umpire gets an assist and learns the zone on the job, while coaches, players, and fans know the calls are backed by technology.

The other league consideration for live-game use is a second official or staff member monitoring a secondary app—our Command Center. We also strongly advise that umpires and the monitoring official get pre-season training on how to use and calibrate the app when the pressure is on to get every call right and maintain accurate pitch counts.

In short, we suggest two people and two phones per game:

• Umpire + tracking phone — earbuds so they keep full control of the game and every ball/strike call.
• League official + Command Center — calibrate, pause, adjust, and maintain the session from behind the backstop.
